UREA GRANULATION PLANT
PROJECT Tecnimont is executing a Lump Sum Turn-Key project for a new 2,000 t/day urea granulation plant using Yara's proprietary technology in Sluiskil, near Antwerp.Production capacity
Without LTI
Steel structures installed up to 50 m in elevation
The project, on a Lump Sum Turn-Key basis, involves execution of a new urea granulation plant, in addition to some related units.
The plant, with a production capacity of 2,000 tons per day, uses proprietary technology developed and owned by Yara, which allows also the production of special, sulphur enriched, urea grades.
During Construction activities, a peak of 650 workers and engineers worked more than 1,5 millions of manhours without LTI to achieve more than 14 km of foundation piles and 4,000 cubic meters of reinforced concrete, more than 110,000 welded “dia-inches” and about 300 km of cables installed.
Yara is one of the world’s largest fertilizer producer.
The Sluiskil site, located close to Antwerp with direct access to the North Sea, is one of the most important fertilizer production complexes in Europe.
It has also got a symbolic value to Tecnimont, since its predecessor Montecatini Group carried out its activities in The Netherlands in the very same site during the 60s and 70s.
THE PROJECT, WHICH ALSO INCLUDES RELATED UNITS, INVOLVED 650 WORKERS AND 1.5 MILLION MAN-HOURS WITHOUT LTI, HIGHLIGHTING TECNIMONT'S COMMITMENT TO SAFETY.
